The development of the highest station in the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor, the Ghaziabad station, has now taken shape.
The RRTS is a part of the 17 km long priority area of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor. The corridor is supposed to be commissioned in March 2023.
The alignment of the RRTS corridor arriving from Sarai Kale in Delhi passes through Delhi Metro's Red Line bridge and an existing flyover before this station. The platform level of the Ghaziabad RRTS station is around 24 m high, making it the highest RRTS station constructed on the RRTS network till now. It is a significant regional node and will help future corridors of the phase-2 RRTS network.
The stretch includes five stations- Ghaziabad, Sahibabad, Gudhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot.
The Ghaziabad RRTS station, being developed at Meerut Tiraha of Ghaziabad, will be linked with the current Delhi Metro’s Shaheed Sthal New Bus Adda station and the Ghaziabad bus stand.
Plus, there are three entry/exits, from which the two of them are on the road towards the side of Delhi to Meerut, while the third is on the other side, providing an easy way to commuters.
The station accessibility will be given through Foot Over Bridge (FOBs), including escalators and lifts for comfortable passenger movement. It would also help the elderly and specially-abled.
Every station platform will have two escalators, three staircases, and a lift for the ease of the passengers. For safety, each station platform will have automatic Platform Screen Doors (PSDs). The lifts will have the capacity to hold stretchers too, which is highly beneficial during medical emergencies. And CCTVs would monitor the station 24/7.
RRTS stations will be equipped with state-of-the-art modern facilities such as passenger information display boards and system maps.
At the concourse level, there will be ticket vending machines (TVMs), snack vending machines, fire fighting systems, washrooms, etc.
The traffic integration in and throughout the RRTS station will be designed to create additional drive-in space for all types of vehicles. Separate pick-up and drop-off zones to ensure congestion-free traffic flow. Solar panels will be placed as well on the roof-top of the station for securing green energy.
The station’s infrastructure will also improve the experience of passengers and encourage the public to use public transport crucial regional.
