Approximately four months after the laying of the foundation stone for the Line 1C extension of Jaipur Metro from Badi Choupar to Transport Nagar by former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, the upcoming foundation stone ceremony for the Mansarovar side extension is anticipated to be conducted by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma by the end of this month. Officials from the Urban Development and Housing (UDH) department have confirmed that a proposal has been submitted to the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) to finalise the program's date. A UDH Department official stated, The previous chief minister initiated the Line 1C extension on September 28, 2023, and project work commenced. Now, we aim to begin the extension project between Mansarovar and Ajmer Road (200-feet Bypass Road). We have sought confirmation of dates from the CMO for this program. Jaipur Metro currently operates along an 11.5 km stretch from Badi Choupar to Mansarovar. With the Line 1C extension, Metro services will be extended approximately 3.5 km to Transport Nagar, and under Line 1D, services will further extend 1.5 km to Ajmer Road. Consequently, Line 1 of Jaipur Metro will cover a distance of just under 17 km, connecting Transport Nagar and 200-feet Bypass Road. The Jaipur Metro Railway Corporation has enlisted the Delhi Metro Railway Corporation as the turnkey contractor for project execution. Construction for Line 1C has already commenced, with UDH department officials currently overseeing utility diversions, such as redirecting pipelines from various government and private agencies to facilitate tunnel construction. Tunnel excavation is slated to commence within the next couple of months, with the tunnel extending from Badi Choupar Metro station to a short distance from Ramganj Bazaar. Beyond that point, the Metro will operate on an elevated stretch until reaching the Transport Nagar Metro station, as stated by the UDH official.
