Pune Metro Line 3 hits milestone, 5,000th segment casting in 16 months

The Pune Metro Line 3 reached a significant milestone with the casting of its 5,000th segment. This particular segment connects the IT hub of Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar, covering a distance of 23.203 kilometres. The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is overseeing this metro line project through a public-private partnership (PPP) with a consortium comprising TRIL Urban Transport and Siemens Project Ventures GmbH. This collaboration operates under the special purpose vehicle Pune IT City Metro Rail.

Under this ambitious project, the completion of the 3,000th segment was achieved in just seven months. Alok Kapoor, the Chief Executive Officer of Pune IT City Metro Rail, expressed commitment to adhering to the project's timeline for the elevated line. Kapoor highlighted the remarkable progress, noting that the 5,000th segment was cast within 16 months, which also included the installation of 80% of the piers over the course of one and a half years.
