Railway stations to be revamped and connected to high speed corridors

Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw told the media that 150 railway stations would be redeveloped and approximately 300 stations would be connected with a high-speed corridor across the nation.

Ashwini Vaishnaw told the media that eight stations, namely Bikaner, Udaipur, Ajmer, Gandhinagar (Jaipur), Jodhpur, Jaipur, Abu Road (Sirohi), and Jaisalmer, will be redeveloped in Rajasthan.

The Udaipur Railway station will be redeveloped on a Design-Build Finance Operate Transfer (DBFOT) model on the principle of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD).

The built-up area for station estate improvement is 1,01,374 sq m, and the total area for construction is 4,98,115 sq m.

The concessionaire period is 60 years, and the indicative cost for redevelopment is Rs 132 crore over a three-year timeframe.
