Premier, SAS to Build Rs 20 Bn Solar Wafer Plant in India

Premier Energies Ltd, a leading integrated solar cell and module manufacturer, has entered into a 74:26 joint venture with Taiwan鈥檚 Sino-American Silicon Products Inc. (SAS), the parent company of GlobalWafers鈥攖he world鈥檚 third-largest producer of semiconductor silicon wafers.

The partnership will establish a state-of-the-art 2 gigawatt per annum manufacturing plant in India. The facility will process polysilicon ingots into silicon wafers used in photovoltaic (PV) cells and modules.

This collaboration brings together Premier Energies鈥� high-volume production capabilities and SAS鈥檚 global expertise in silicon wafer technology, aiming to boost domestic solar manufacturing in line with India鈥檚 Make-in-India initiative.
