Sanjeev Kumar has taken charge as Chairman of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation. He is a 1993-batch IAS officer of Maharashtra cadre. He possesses wide experience of working in the fields of infrastructure and finance in the Government of India and Maharashtra Government. Prior to his current assignment, Kumar has worked in the Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation as joint secretary & mission director for the Housing for All project. As mission director for the Prime Minister Aawas Yojna (PMAY), he designed and launched PMAY in that capacity. Kumar also worked as director in the Ministry of Power and was in charge of the Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutikaran Yojna (RGGVY) and Restructured Accelerated Power Development & Reform Program (RAPDRP). Besides, he has also served in various ministries and departments of the Government of Maharashtra. In his new assignment as the Chairman of AAI, Kumar reportedly aims to lead efforts to achieve the authority鈥檚 organisational goals of providing airport infrastructure, top-of-the-line facilities, and leading air navigation services in the world.
