The Railway authorities have finalised a comprehensive blueprint to remodel Pune Railway Station, which includes modernising the platforms and yard infrastructure. Tenders for various components of the project are expected to be issued soon, signalling that the yard remodelling initiative is finally progressing. Two new platforms are scheduled to be constructed, while four existing platforms will be extended to accommodate longer trains.He also mentioned that the Engineering Department of Indian Railways has finalised the technical blueprint for the project. Based on this plan, a tendering process will be undertaken to ensure swift progress. The official assured that all efforts would be made to minimise inconvenience to passengers during peak travel periods.During the execution of the project, a significant number of train cancellations may occur, which could affect many passengers. To reduce disruption, the railway administration intends to divert some train traffic to Hadapsar and Khadki terminals.While passengers remain cautious about the upcoming work, Sunil Jadhav, a regular commuter, expressed mixed feelings. He welcomed the remodelling plan, acknowledging that Pune Railway Station is in urgent need of an upgrade. However, he also voiced concern about the potential impact on daily schedules, especially if trains are cancelled or rerouted, which could cause major disruptions for officegoers like himself.
