The Telangana government鈥檚 Musi river development project might be a difficult task going ahead. A total of 8,400 encroachments are identified by the Musi River Development Corporation Limited (MRDCL) along with the revenue department and need to be removed for undertaking several developmental works. The municipal administration department is facing a crucial problem in eliminating over 12,000 squatters on major nalas in Telangana. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) failed to remove them in the last few years. Now, the plan is to offer them 2 BHK houses in different locations. According to the annual report by the municipal administration department, Musi riverfront development is planned in a 55-km boundary demarcated by the officials. The report stated that MRDCL had demarcated the river boundary as well as the buffer zone first in the history of Musi river via conducting surveys with a differential global positioning system. Additionally, Mandal-wise maps have been prepared with coordinates. The beautification, which commenced three years ago, was able to complete only some work like the installation of floating trash barriers, disposal of trash, and construction of walkways.
