BDD chawl redevelopment: Maha Govt ensures no one becomes homeless

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has urged officials to ensure that no person becomes homeless throughout the redevelopment of BDD (Bombay Development Directorate) chawls.

The chief minister asked officials to pay attention to rehabilitating all the families from these chawls in the meeting held at his residence office.

Thackeray issued regulations to establish a ministerial committee to take a policy decision about houses for police personnel in such chawls and called for creating the outline for redeveloping and rehabilitating the police quarters.

It was discussed to provide accommodations to retired police employees and the family of the deceased cops living in BDD chawls in the redeveloping structures.

The BDD chawls began coming up in Mumbai in the 1930s and gradually transformed into a housing facility for the working class.

Currently, most of these chawls are in old rundown condition, located on prime plots in Mumbai.

Senior ministers such as the housing Minister Jitendra Awhad, State 亚博体育官网首页 Minister Dilip Walse Patil, Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray, State chief secretary Sitaram Kunte, Mumbai Commissioner of Police Hemant Nagrale, and other officials attended the conference.
