MHADA colonies will now receive civic amenities from BMC

Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) colonies are set to receive water connections, garbage clearance, road repair and basic facilities from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

As MHADA has been designated an independent planning authority by the state government, these societies were deprived of the civic body's amenities.

On Tuesday, Vinod Ghosalkar, the head of its Mumbai Repair and Reconstruction Board, addressing a press meet at MHADA's Bandra headquarters, said that officials of both agencies had held a meeting and took this decision.

MPs Arvind Sawant, Mayor Kishori Pednekar, and Gajanan Kirtikar, apart from several MHADA officials and MLAs, were present.

The Maharashtra Housing & Area Development Authority (MHADA) was built by the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Act in 1976.

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), also referred to as Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), is the ruling civic body of Mumbai, the capital city of Maharashtra.
