Unveiling India鈥檚 first purpose-built Parliament

The Indian Parliament has a brand-new building designed to address the present and future needs of efficient parliamentary functioning. The new building measuring about 21,765 sq m was to be constructed on a triangular-shaped plot measuring approximately 10.5 acres. Hence, the design team from HCP Design, Planning & Management (HCPDPM) decided that a triangular building would make the best use of the available space as well as lend itself well to the three primary functional requirements鈥攖he Lok Sabha, the Rajya Sabha and the courtyard.

Prior to developing the initial design, the design team studied the architectural language of the existing Parliament House, a Grade I heritage building, the utilisation of space, the facilities and adjacencies, circulation routes, protocols and security arrangements, furniture requirements, the additions and alterations made to the building, and its expansion possibilities.

SMPK Eyes Double-Digit Cargo Growth in FY25 After Uptick

Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (SMPK), is targeting double-digit cargo growth in financial year 2025, supported by mechanisation projects at Haldia and Calcutta, night navigation support, and a revival in the steel sector following a safeguard duty to protect domestic industry.The port handled 63.95 million tonnes of cargo in FY25, a decline of 3.75 per cent from the record 66.44 million tonnes in FY24. NHAI bars KNR after embankment collapse on NH-66 in Kerala

A structural failure involving the settlement of an embankment and collapse of a Reinforced Earth (RE) wall was reported on 19th May 2025 on the Ramanattukara鈥揤alanchery section of NH-66 in Kerala.
