Ban on construction in Delhi to continue till further orders

Environment Minister of Delhi, Gopal Rai, said that the construction ban and the entry of trucks, restricting CNG, e-trucks and those trucks engaged in small services would continue till further orders, keeping in mind the air quality of the state.
According to a report, the government reviewed the construction ban on 16 December.
Rai said many companies are requesting to raise the ban on construction and demolition activities. The Ministry has directed them to write an application to the Ministry and the Commission of Air Quality Management (CAQM).
He said that the air quality in Delhi remained between 250 and 325 from 1-12 December, But the experts forecast a bit of deterioration in air quality in the next three days.
He further added that the water sprinkling drive for controlling dust pollution would continue, and necessary directions have been issued to the civic body, fire department and other departments.
The anti-dust campaign inspected 6,953 sites and imposed fines of Rs 1.65 crore for a rules violation at 597 site locations.
The anti-burning campaign inspected 16,580 sites, imposing a cumulative fine of Rs 46 lakh for violations at 2,490 site locations.
The environmental department has received 6,975 pollution complaints since October on their Green Delhi application, from which 81% has been resolved.
Rai said that the maximum complaints were received from the South Delhi Municipal Corporation zone.
In Delhi, nearly 19.50 lakh pollution-under-control certificates have been passed, and 49,000 vehicles have been challaned.
