PM Modi inaugurates Kushinagar International Airport in UP

PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the third international airport in Uttar Pradesh, Kushinagar International Airport. He said that the airport project to the Buddhist devotees across the world.

The project built at an estimated cost of Rs 260 crore will boost the region's economy. The Covid-19 vaccination will play a significant role in tourism. Fast and wide-scale vaccination in India would develop trust among foreign tourists.

On Wednesday, a Sri Lankan Airlines carrying many Buddhist monks came to India. The monks brought relics from Waskaduwa Sri Subuthi Rajvihaa Temple, Sri Lanka.

The Civil Aviation Minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia, said that the first direct flight to New Delhi would open on 26 November, and direct flights from Mumbai and West Bengal would start on 18 December.

PM Modi said that the Kushinagar International Airport project would connect the states associated with the different life phases of Lord Buddha. He added that the project would not only provide better connectivity to the Buddhists in India but also in Sri Lanka, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Cambodia, and others.

He said that Kushinagar would be the ninth airport of UP, and another international airport project is going at a fast pace in Jewar near Noida.

Modi also visited the Mahaparinirvana Temple in Kushinagar to mark Abhidhamma Day as he said that the monks would visit Varanasi as well.

The Minister of Sri Lanka, Namal Rajapaksha, gave the English copy of Shinola and Tamil translation of Bhagavad Gita to PM Narendra Modi. The greatest gift Sri Lanka received from India was Buddhism. Both the countries shared a close relation between Nations and citizens. It is the vision of President Gotabaya Rajapaksha and PM Modi to strengthen this bond, he tweets.

PM Modi replied that India and Sri Lanka's bonds are getting stronger across various sectors. This augurs well for the citizens of the nations.
