The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has decided to fill potholes on all city roads, covering national highways, by 15th November. On Tuesday, MCG commissioner Mukesh Kumar Ahuja declared these directions during an internal meeting concerning the beautification of the city. The MCG commissioner also ordered the civic body authorities to fix footpaths, lift and clean debris, road dividers, garbage and horticultural waste, repair walkways and tiles in parks, and plant more trees by 15th November. MCG authorities will be lifting waste and clearing trash from areas across the city, covering national highways and main roads. Thus, he has directed officials to repair potholes across all roads in the city in coordination with departments concerned like Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and Public Works Department (PWD) by 15th November. As per the MCG officials, superintending engineer Vivek Gill has been given the responsibility of getting the main roads and national highways fixed. Last month, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar had ordered departments in Gurugram to repair all roads damaged by rains during the monsoon season by 30th November. MCG had invited bids to get roads fixed in areas under their jurisdiction, while GMDA had already begun on-ground work at several extents under its jurisdiction like the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) and Basai Road. GMDA chief engineer Jaspal Singh told the media that authorities had been given a deadline of 15th November by the administration to achieve all road-related patchwork. All arterial roads like internal sector roads and colony roads are under the jurisdiction of MCG, while master roads like the Mehrauli-Gurgaon (MG) Road, Golf Course Extension Road (GCR), Netaji Subhash Marg are under the jurisdiction of GMDA. The Gurugram section of National Highway 48, Dwarka Expressway, Sohna Road (NH 248 A) is under the jurisdiction of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), while roads linking to peripheral regions like Bajgehra, Pataudi and Farrukhnagar are under the jurisdiction of Public Works Department (PWD). The MCG commissioner additionally said in the meeting that all the MCG executive engineers would be the nodal officers of their respective divisions for the mentioned works, all the joint commissioners would supervise their respective areas and the chief engineer would monitor and supervise all the projects.
