Central Railway Expands Capacity with 90 New Coaches Across 42 Trains

In a move to improve passenger services, the Central Railway is adding 90 general second-class coaches to 42 trains, catering to an additional 9,000 passengers daily. This expansion is part of Indian Railways' broader plan to induct 1,000 new general second-class coaches by the end of the month across 370 trains, benefiting nearly one lakh passengers daily.

This addition follows the successful integration of approximately 600 new general category coaches over the last three months. The railway board plans to add over 10,000 non-AC coaches to the fleet in the next two years, including sleeper class coaches. These new coaches will be of the modern LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) design, aimed at improving passenger safety and comfort.

Railway officials highlighted that general-class passengers, who form a large segment of daily commuters, are a top priority. This initiative is expected to ease congestion and improve overall rail travel efficiency.
