UPMRC invites bids for underground section of Agra Metro鈥檚 Line-1

The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has invited bids for developing an underground section of Line-1 from the beginning of an underground ramp close to Fatehabad Road Metro station to the end after RBS college Metro station for the Agra Metro.

The work also comprises constructing seven underground stations: Agra Fort, Taj Mahal, Jama Masjid, S N Medical College, Agra College, Raja ki Mandi, and RBS college, including architectural finishing and other additional works. The overall cost of the project is nearly Rs 2,200 crore.

The starting date for bid submission is 5 August 2021, and the closing date is 12 October 2021. The time for work completion is 48 months (4 years). The pre-bid meeting is scheduled for 10 September 2021.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) recently approved loan permission for the Agra Metro Rail Project, which allowed UPMRC to invite bids for the underground section, including the construction of seven underground stations for Line-1 of Agra Metro.

Agra Metro's Line-1 (14.24 km) is slightly elevated (6.56 km) and partly underground (7.68 km) among 14 stations. These stations are Agra Fort, Taj Mahal, Fatehabad Road, Basai & Taj East Gate, Sikandra, Guru Ka Taal, ISBT, Shastri Nagar, RBS College, Raja Ki Mandi, Agra University, Medical College, Jama Masjid.

Sam India Built Well Pvt Ltd already received the contract for the elevated portion (3 km) with three stations: Taj East Gate, Basai, and Fatehabad Road. This tender also comprises developing the rest of the underground section of the Priority Corridor from Jama Masjid to Taj Mahal with three underground stations.
