Varanasi receives 13 new projects worth Rs 1,200 crore

When Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits Varanasi in July, 13 new projects totaling Rs 1,200 crore will be unveiled.

According to Kaushal Raj, District Magistrate Sharma and  Deepak Agrawal, Divisional Commissioner, the PMO has not yet provided a precise date, although he could visit Varanasi between July 7 and July 10.

Maximum 11 of the 33 completed projects, worth a total of Rs 600 crore, are the responsibility of the urban development division and are being completed by Smart City Limited.

According to officials, these 11 projects include phase-I work at Namo Ghat, a bathing jetty, CNG boats, infrastructure development for the Lahartara-Chowkaghat flyover, Dashashwamedh market complex, and sewage projects.

22 other projects from the PWD, home department, including the construction of a new police station, sports, electricity, higher education, women's and children's welfare, tourism, religious affairs, and Jal Shakti departments, have also been listed.

The Prime Minister will lay the cornerstone for several significant projects, including the six-lane widening of the Lahartara BHU-Vijaya crossing, the four-lane widening and strengthening of the Kutcheri-Sandada road, and the four-lane widening of the road from the Pandeypur flyover to the ring road, all of which cost more than Rs 242 crore.
