Renovation and development work of Suando Village begins in Odisha

The Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation (OBCC) commences the Suando renovation and development. Suando is the birthplace of Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das. The project to transform the site into a heritage village.

Renovating the ancestral house of Utkalmani- considered as a jewel of Odisha, museum, beautification of the village, and construction of a road along with other facilities is included in the renovation and development project.

The eminent social thinker鈥檚 ancestral home will be turned into a museum, the curatorial plan for the same is under the reviewing process of the culture department. Currently, the construction of the ancestral house and museum building is in progress.

A senior works department official said the transformation works will require some time and will be complete by the end of the year.

Utkalamani鈥檚 statue of bronze and 15 feet in height to be installed at Suando soon as part of the plan of the state government for transforming it into a heritage village.

The pedestal on which the statue will be installed is an iconic one.The road from Pattanaik Chhaka and National Highway (NH)-316 that connects to the village of Utkalmani will also be widened as part of the development project.

The state government also plans various other infrastructure works like constructing an information center, shopping complex, and conservation of heritage sites across the village under this project.The transformation work had been initiated after the village visit by secretary, V K Pandian.
