Delhi slum dwellers to get 2,400 flats in Dwarka

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA), without including slum-dwellers and economically weaker sections (EWS) in and around Delhi in its regular housing scheme, is to sanction 2,400 flats directly to the beneficiaries in Dwarka area next year. This Authority took the 'one-time' decision on August 19 and it will follow the guidelines of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation for rehabilitating slum clusters.

For this, six different slum clusters at Indira Camp, Vikaspuri and Shanker Garden, that house 2,383 families at present, have been identified by the Authority for rehabilitation. DDA has made the price of the flats flats affordable by offering a partial subsidy. The allottees will have to pay the rest through installments.

But, the beneficiaries of these subsidised flats will have to vacate the slums to be demolished by the Authority for the land.

Kolkata鈥檚 luxury housing market sees price growth amid mixed trends
