DDA extends deadline to apply for Special Housing Scheme 2021

On Monday, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) declared that the deadline to apply for its Special Housing Scheme 2021 has been extended to March 10 on public demand and given the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, authorities told the media.

As of date, a total of 16,000 applications have been obtained under the scheme which was rolled out on December 23, 2021, they said.The new special housing scheme provides a little more than 18,000 flats, with all units being attracted from its old inventory.The deadline of the scheme was February 7, 2022, when it was declared.

On public demand and possibilities due to the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, DDA has chosen to extend the deadline for applying in DDA Special Housing Scheme 2021 till March 10, 2022.

The extension of date would stimulate the interested persons to apply in the scheme, it said. It was the second scheme of the housing authority for the year 2021, the first one being provided early last year.The Delhi Development Authority had announced a newspaper advertisement which said the apartments were being sold at "discounted costs'', and according to the DDA brochure, the maximum cost of an apartment is around Rs 2.14 crore in the Higher Income Groups (HIG) category in Jasola.

The 18,335 apartments of different types, situated at Dwarka, Narela, Rohini and Jasola, among other places, being provided under this scheme are those which remained "unsold in prior housing schemes" of the urban body.

The inventory comprises 205 HIG apartments, 976 Middle Income Group (MIG) apartments, 11,452 Lower Income Group (LIG) apartments and 5,702 apartments under the ESW/Janata flats category. While declaring the approval of the new scheme, the DDA in a statement had then said that the apartments were being proposed at the old rates or cost in relaxation of the costing policy of DDA, which is revised every financial year based on the appreciation or depreciation of land price or building, as the case may be.
