The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has released 864 Transfer Development Rights (TDR) certificates towards cash compensation to procure 350 acres of land for several road projects.
On October 9, GHMC commissioner Lokesh Kumar had examined the progress of the procurement of properties with all its wings.
GHMC informed the media that given the surged compensation value, it has started the TDR Policy for taking over the properties with minimum burden on the exchequer.
The property owners are willing to part with their land while getting TDR certificates instead of cash compensation, as the demand for issue and usage of TDR has grown rapidly.
Concerning land obtained in the past five years, the civic body authorities said that 89 roads have been undertaken for road widening, out of which 55 roads have been built, and 1,805 properties have been procured.
Under the SRDP category, the GHMC obtained 1,100 properties and 192 properties under the missing or slip roads category, and the remaining 511 properties under the general road widening category.
A few major road widening or link roads, where the procurement of properties has been done comprise Shilparamam RUB, Bio-Diversity Flyover, Road No.45, Rajiv Gandhi Flyover at JNTU, Stay Cable Bridge (Durgam Cheruvu), RUB at Hitech City, Underpass at Bairamalguda to Chintalkunta check-post and flyovers in different places.
