Govt nods local area redevelopment plan of Indore

On Monday, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) told the media that the local area plan (LAP) of Indore has been approved by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for execution under town planning schemes (TPS) for chosen AMRUT cities.

IMC officials told the media that Indore is the only city chosen for the scheme in Madhya Pradesh.

Pratibha Pal, IMC commissioner, told the media that Indore is the only city till now whose draft Local Area Plan (LAP) has been passed by the Ministry under the scheme. Additionally, the Ministry will showcase the LAP project of Indore in Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav to be carried out at Lucknow at month-end.

Explaining the local area plan, she said that the main aim of Local area planning is to supervise and promote redevelopment of already developed areas of the city in a systematic and organised manner. And it may also be regarded as the tool to execute the development plan of Indore. LAP has been made from urban planning and development point of view, and it has been guided by the Indore Development Plan 2021 made under the provisions of the Madhya Pradesh Town and Country Planning Act 1973.
