JDA makes land-use plan for scrapped greenfield airport

The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has made a proposal detailing the land use of the area that was previously reserved for the scrapped greenfield airport project in Shivdaspura.

Landowners who have been unable to use their valuable land would benefit from this decision. Besides allocating the area for residential, institutional, commercial, and mixed-use uses, the city government has also set aside 200 bigha for the establishment of new industrial zones.

After Ramchandrapura, Prahladpura, and Sitapura, this would be the fourth industrial area on JDA's territory.

Earlier, the state government approved JDA's acquisition of 2,094 hectares in 20 communities for the airport.

Although the Central government denied this project, Shanti Dhariwal, the state's urban development and housing minister, cancelled it in 2020, releasing the land from acquisition. The project was stalled because the zone was designated as a special area with no set land use.

An official told the media that an industrial sector would be developed near the Bada Padampura shrine, and 15% of the land has been reserved for it.

A 60 to 200 ft road network would also be built to connect the area to Tonk Road and Ring Road. Around Shivdaspura, a land-use plan has been established to create projects such as water parks and leisure activities.

In addition, 8 to 10% of the special area's land would be set aside for the new road network. The latest action has prepared the path for building 100-150 colonies in this area.
