Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) imposes monetary penalties on seven private contractors violating National Green Tribunal (NGT) construction norms. According to the NGT norms, the construction sites mist control the dispersion of dust into the atmosphere by covering the construction sites with green nets and a sprinkling of water. These measures are important as the dust from the construction sites combine with mist or fog to form smog, causing air pollution and several health issues. The district administration has issued strict instructions to all the civic and development firms for implementing the NGT norms. According to sources, many private companies like Rajajipuram, Alambagh, Gomtinagar Extension, Jankipuram Extension, Indiranagar, Niralanagar, Raebareli Road, IIM Chauraha, Aashiana and LDA Colony. Residents are complaining about the smog, which caused difficulty in breathing. People also complained that the construction debris piled up on the roads caused more accidents and traffic jams. Construction norms are also not followed on the flyover work on the Rae Bareli Road. Ajay Dwivedi, Municipal Commissioner, told the media that the teams are under the command of executive engineers have been deployed in eight zones to impose monetary penalties on the developers violating NGT norms at the construction sites.
