NMMC to provide lands in Airoli to MMRDA for Airoli-Katai Naka

For facilitating the Airoli-Katai Naka elevated road project鈥檚 under construction work, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation- NMMC will be providing lands in Airoli to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Corporation- MMRDA.

The land parcel shall be utilised for work related to construction. The Phase I of the project will be operational by the end of December 2022. The road will also reduce time and distance for people commuting between Navi Mumbai to Kalyan.

In addition, the feasibility report for the new route from Thane-Belapur Road to Mumbai through Mulund as well as from Mulund to Thane Belapur Road to Navi Mumbai will arrive by January 15.

A joint meeting was held between the civic chief and the chief engineer of MMRDA. The civic body decided on providing space at sector-III in Airoli for easier construction of the Airoli-Katai Naka elevated road project.

MMRDA will be receiving a part of fire station premises, park, and bus depot in Airoli sector-III. Post construction MMRDA will be restoring all these facilities and transferring them to the NMMC.

The Airoli-Katai Naka elevated road project has been delayed for a very long time. The project will be connecting Navi Mumbai and Kalyan directly. Currently, motorists from the Ghansoli, Digha, Airoli, Rabale have to opt for the buzzing Mahape or Thane route for reaching Kalyan. The Airoli-Katai Naka project will reduce the distance from Navi Mumbai to Kalyan by 10 kilometers and the travel time by approximately 30 minutes.

An official said that the meeting had been organized for determining the time frame of the proceedings of the new route. Another meeting will be held on January 18 for taking the final decisions.
