About five lakh plot owners living in unapproved colonies are likely to benefit after the Rajasthan government鈥檚 nod to extend the deadline for regularisation. The deadline will extend after the government鈥檚 amendment to the provision of 90 A of the Rajasthan land revenue act. As per an official, the government plans to extend the deadline for applications asking for the regularisation of homes built on agricultural land in urban regions to December 31, 2018. Earlier lease deeds were not provided to plot owners living in colonies, which were created after June 17, 1999. An official at the urban development and housing (UDH) department told the media that the amendment bill would be presented in the state assembly shortly. With this, in the state capital alone three lakh people living in about 1500 colonies will get the advantage. Once the proposal is approved, the state government will additionally regularise colonies that are not created, as per the township policy norms.The civic bodies will be permitted to regularise colonies that did not follow the 60:40 ratio of development. An official told the media that the layout plan for colonies that are developed, according to the 70:30 ratio will additionally be backed by the civic bodies. Experts said if such colonies are regularised, they would be more like slums as there would be no facilities and open areas. The approval to regularise these schemes during the 鈥榩rashasan shero ke sang鈥� has been made to help the residents starving of basic facilities like roads, water, and electricity for long. But, official sources claimed, the remaining land will not be enough to build facilities like parks, community centres and hospitals among others.
