Tax Adalat to address property tax issues from 22 November

The tax adalat in Thiruvananthapuram city will soon address the issues of the property tax dues and will begin on 22 November 2021.

Thiruvananthapuram Corporation will organise tax adalat to address the issues of property tax payment in the city following allegations of fund fraud in zonal offices.

Mayor Arya Rajendran said that the 4.5 lakh tax assessments would be completed in a month, after which the adalat would be held.

The city corporation has planned to provide a platform to the residents to raise complaints online if they find irregularities in tax dues.

For any issues, the corporation will facilitate the adjustment of the amount for upcoming fiscal years or repayment based on the request of the residents.

The tax adalat will be held from 22 November to 17 December, covering all zonal officers and the main office. The adalat will operate on four days for the main office.

Rajendran said that after the posting and adalat, it would resolve the issues of tax payments.

The parliamentary leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), M R Gopan, used his example to highlight the lapses in data updating. He said that a tax payment of around Rs 20,000 was yet to be reflected on the website.

The mayor has said that the issue would be resolved after the completion of the updatation. Gopan added that the mayor was setting the wrong precedent to turn up the office, and the irregularities could be resolved in the tax payments.
