Jaipur Development Authority to decide land use of greenfield airport

The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) will soon decide the land use of the 2,100 hectare after de-reserving the area, where the greenfield airport in Shivdaspura was to be constructed.

After it was decided that the airport would not be built on the reserved land, the town planning wing began to allot the area as a 鈥榮pecial area鈥 in the Master Plan 2025. The notification for the same will be issued shortly.

Farmers living near Shivdaspura heaved a sigh of relief in 2020 as their land reserved for the airport was released after 16 years. Yet, in absence of land-use change, the owners were not able to reap the advantage. An official told the media that once the land use is decided, it will render a significant relief to farmers of 20 villages who were not able to use their valuable land.

In May last year, the state government decided to free the reserve land as the airport cannot be built in the area. Local landowners have expressed dissatisfaction as work is moving at a slow speed. Ashok Singh, a landowner, told the media that they presented numerous memorandums to the state government, but nothing has been done to date.

For the last few years, the district lease committee (DLC) rates of the area have not surged. Earlier in Lok Sabha, the civil aviation minister had answered that no airport was planned in Shivdaspura. Yet, the land was reserved. The ministry of civil aviation did not approve the bid to build the airport.
