Pune Metro Line 3 speeds up project work, erects 300 piers

The Pune Metro Line 3 project, which connects Shivajinagar's central business district to Hinjewadi's IT cluster, has advanced significantly in many areas. A critical component of the project, the construction of the piers has recently seen an acceleration; 100 piers were built in just 60 days. With this addition, there are now 300 piers that have been built, marking an important progress point for the project.

The building of the metro rail system is being managed by a joint venture between the Tata Group and the Pune Metropolitan Area Development Authority (PMRDA).

For the project's implementation, Tata Group has created the Pune IT City Metro Rail Ltd as a special purpose vehicle (SPV).

The piers are a unique circular shape with a diameter of 2000mm and are being built in accordance with stringent design and safety standards established by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). They are also completely consistent with the design specifications of the metro rail system. To guarantee that the project is finished on schedule, the project developers are committed to adhering to all construction safety guidelines and quality control methods.

The Pune residents will benefit from the Pune Metro Line 3's simple, practical, and inexpensive public transportation options between Hinjewadi and Shivajinagar. For a concession period of 35 years, including the building phase, the project will be constructed and run on a design, build, finance, operate, and transfer (DBFOT) basis by the SPV Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited (PITCMRL).
