India Launches First Indigenous Trainer Aircraft HANSA-3(NG)

01 May 2025
In a milestone for India's aviation self-reliance, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh officially launched HANSA-3(NG), the nation’s first indigenously developed trainer aircraft for Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) training. Developed by CSIR-NAL, the aircraft features a digital glass cockpit, fuel-efficient Rotax 912 iSc3 engine, and a range of 620 nautical miles. Its Transfer of Technology has been granted to Mumbai-based Pioneer Clean Amps Pvt. Ltd. With over 110 Letters of Intent from flying schools, the facility will initially produce 36 aircraft annually. The initiative aims to meet rising pilot training demands and bolster India’s aviation sector under the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.
