Pune to pilot unique land parcel identification number project

The state has chosen Pune to direct the Unique Land Parcel Identification Number (ULPIN) project for enabling IT-based management of records.
Christened "Aadhaar for land", the 14-digit Unique Land Parcel Identification Number strives at recognising every surveyed parcel of land and additionally controlling any fraud related to land.
Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in her Budget speech on Tuesday, specified about ULPIN and promoted all states to launch the process. Pilots on the project have been conducted in select districts of 10 states, comprising Maharashtra.
The other states are Bihar, Haryana, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Sikkim, Goa, and Karnataka.
Maharashtra settlement commissioner N K Sudhanshu told the media that the pilot trial for Pune district was in place and its testing would be carried out in a few months.
For Maharashtra, Pune was chosen for the pilot project and the unique numbers were given to land plots for the whole district.They have just finished providing these numbers.They are required to test the numbers and integrate them with revenue and bank records.They should be able to do it after April.
For the Pune district, all land plots were marked and numbered as per their latitude and longitude coordinates.The unique number will have ownership details of a property, besides its size and longitudinal and latitudinal details up to the taluka level and beyond. The numbers are to be associated with other departments in a proposal to decrease land fraud. The process will be to develop a unique PIN, which will be integrated with revenue and bank records and also Aadhaar numbers.
